The Newport City Council meets on the first and third Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall.  Each member serves a four year term with local elections taking place in November of even numbered years.  Click here to view the agendas and minutes.

The Council is responsible for passing ordinances and orders necessary for governing the City, setting budgets, and determining the direction of City policy.  Any person wishing to have an item considered by the City Council may submit a request, along with pertinent exhibits, to the City office eight days prior to the following council meeting date.
